Bodhisattva Sadaksari Lokitesvara
Western Tibet, Guge Kingdom/Ladakh, 14th century,Brass alloy, with the inscription on the back, Height : 26cm. The lavishly ornamented bodhisattva with four arms represents the forms of Avalokiteshvara that is the personification of the dety's mantra of six syllables ( Shadakshari ) om-ma-ni-pad-me-hum. Seated in the classic meditation posture on a high lotus base, his principal hands from the salutation gesture. The second left hand holds the ubiquitous lotus, and the right hand is holding the rosary. Clearly it is the execllent work of an accomplished sculptor from the Guge Kingdom of the Western Tibetan in 14th century. It has such a mysterious face of the Kingdom – Guge ! The inscriptions on the back.(Om A Hum )
