| Medium: Acrylic on Canvas w/applied paper. Size: 22"x16". Note: Resolution of enlargements may not be adequate. Andres Borges Reyes is born the 4 of November of 1970 in the City of Baracoa, Cuba. Painter and poet. From the early age of 8 years he shows a great interest on Painting and begins studies of drawing and painting with different teachers, along his primary, secondary and pre-college studies. When culminating its studies on Language and English Literature, at Universidad de Oriente, Santiago of Cuba, begins to deepen and to perfect his knowledges in the sculpture field; exposing in different halls at municipal, provincial and national level. At the beginning of the 90s, moves to Havana, to assist aviation studies at ETA, graduating as an Air Traffic Controller (ATC). The work of this artist-as well as his life –is a melange of different styles and techniques. The artist says: - I feel uncomfortable to do consecutively three works of the same style… I always take a time. The state of mind and mood is very important at the time of engaging in a dialog with the canvas.I do not comprehend an artist that presents to us for two three decades , the same stroke, motive or the same speech. Art is commitment , desire , passion ; and not every day , can our soul depit life and its concepts , with the same tones ,shape or concept. when I work in a series; I sketch and work simultaneously, several other canvases, about different topics or daily mankind matters. For that reason, while appreciating his work, we observe different techniques and styles, using spatulas, brushes or simply the hands , fingers and nails; obtaining a work of images and values that influence and reach people in a conceptual and rich expressive way. In many of the cases bound to its poetic work. Borges raises in addition: - I do not reckon much when people say … “This it is the technique that defines you, this is your style, this is You…”, when somebody is in front of a linen cloth. The fact that my work branches out into different areas within painting or in my instalative work, makes me feel more at ease with my creative mind.
