Found in Cologne, Germany, dating to the 1st -2nd Century CE. Squat globular body of bluish-green glass; with cylindrical neck, two dolphin handles applied on the shoulder, drawn up and down, attached to neck. Flat base, no pontil. Rim, folded outward, backward, inward and flattened. The Aryballos was an ancient container used for storing oil. Bucchero ware was first made circa 675-660 BC in workshops in Caere (modern Cerveteri) in southern Etruria. With its black color, finely wrought surfaces with silvery sheens, and stamped and incised decoration, it holds its own when compared with metalwork.
