Almost all owl cups, or skyphoi, one encounters today were manufactured in Apulia - southeastern Italy, around 325 BC. This extremely fine example is an exception. Made in Athens (Attica) during the last quarter of the 5th century BC (Ca 425 to 400 BC), it is far more delicate, far better potted with thin walls, delicate handles and small foot. Extremely rare example! Ancient Double-Headed Horse, Cypro-Archaic period, ca. 7th century B.C. Modeled entirely by hand, terracotta horse of attenuated form with triangular legs, hooked tail; double-headed with long necks, and forward-pointing crested manes.
