Ancient carved white limestone / marble rectangular slab-type stele carved in relief on face, with a Thrachian rearing horse and rider, Rome, ca. 100 to 350 A.D. Rider wears conical helmet, pleated knee length skirt and cape, and holds a sword in his raised hand. Scene is contained within a simple temple setting. Composed of a solid rectangular handle, perforated at the end for thong attachment, with a curved blade having a scooped channel. Classic Roman Bronze Pitcher, Ca 1st to 2nd century AD. Tall, elegant vessel on wide ring base with rounded body, relief circumbscribed rings at shoulder, and tall slender neck leading to expanded mouth with spout. A tall looping handle of conjoined rods connects from mouth to side of body with foliate detail, tip of detail nicked. Beautiful reddish patina. 10-1/2" H.
