Found in Cologne, Germany, dating to the 1st -2nd Century CE. Squat globular body of bluish-green glass; with cylindrical neck, two dolphin handles applied on the shoulder, drawn up and down, attached to neck. Flat base, no pontil. Rim, folded outward, backward, inward and flattened. The Aryballos was an ancient container used for storing oil. Don't usually find aryballoi as big as this one! From ancient Rome, Ca. 2nd Century AD. Yellowish-green glass vessel in traditional aryballos form, with spherical body, two trailed handles; the neck, however, is longer than that seen in the characteristic aryballos, although it, too, has a collared rim.
