Egyptian Old Kingdom Limestone Relief (SOLD)
From ancient Egypt, dating to the Old Kingdom - the period from the Third Dynasty through to the Sixth Dynasty (2686 BC – 2181 BC) – this magnificent section was created in low-relief and contains two vertical bands of hieroglyphics. Because this piece has just arrived we have not had the opportunity to have it translated. The first (left side) band contains 9 distinct glyphs and the right side contains 8 full or partial glyphs. 12"H x 10"W x 2-1/2" deep not including custom mount. This piece is worthy of any major collection of ancient Egyptian art! One very small area the size of a quarter on back edge re-glued, else intact/excellent.

Provenance: Ex-prominent Toronto, Ontario collection; ex-collection of Dr. Charles Best, an American-Canadian medical scientist and one of the co-discoverers of insulin.

Authenticity Guaranteed
