Cambodia, Ca. 12th-14th Century CE. Bronze fitting has curved handle in shape of an exposed bud, middle features a dragon head, front has a raised spike. Cracking around pole/rope hole, interior of ring encrustation with iron oxides indicating it was supported with an iron rod. Hooks like this were used to hold the ropes while riding elephants. 6-3/4"L, intact/generally excellent with surface wear, as shown. Fine and extremely rare!
