Finely-carved ancient Egyptian Scarab, dating from the Second Intermediate Period, XII-XVIII Dynasties, ca. 1991 - 1307 B.C., Green- glazed steatite with Nefer and Djed on base. This was worn as a protective amulet for the living. 16mm x 11mm, intact/excellent. PROVENANCE: Ex-Philip Mitry Collection (Mitry was a noted dealer of Egyptian artifacts licensed by the Egyptian government to sell from his shop in Cairo, during the 1940s/50s).
