| Vintage Chinese Pillow Box, dating to about 1950s (perhaps even a bit earlier). Boxes like this were used in Ancient China to store a user's opium stash and pipe in his "pillow" so no one could steal it at night. Exterior features beautiful black patent leather workmanship with handpainted gold floral designs painted on the lid, front and sides. Original brass handles and front hinge. Interior is lined with leather painted light tan. 16-1/8"L x 5-1/4"W x 6"H, intact/in generally excellent condition, save minor crackling of leather from age. These make very handsome decoration additions for storing everything from candy to tabacco. | ||
