Early 18th century Yongzheng period, Qing dynasty Porcelain with underglaze cobalt blue h: 22 cm Perfect condition (rim fritting commensurate with period) From a Swedish collection This blue and white Yongzheng period plate conveys an overall auspicious message. The pairing of the sparrows (painted next to the tree) with the sun means "to see happiness daily", while the two deers express "the road to success" (deer in Chinese is a homynom for "path" or "road.")Please note that this plate has excellent glaze and paste characteristic of early Qing blue and whites. |
