A lovely, large transferware platter from the "Holy Bible" series by Job and John Jackson, Staffordshire Potteries 1831-1835. Sidon was the capital of Phoenicia in biblical times. It was a major Mediterranean port and a very prosperous city. The platter has a lovely scalloped edge and floral border. "Holy Bible" mark with title, "Sidon", and "Jacksons Warrented" on reverse. A lovely brown and white drainer by John Rogers and Son, Staffordshire Potteries circa 1814-1836 in the Athens pattern. Pattern depicts tourists visiting the Greek ruins in Athens. Rogers was well known for the high quality of their transferwares. Drainer is marked with the printed pattern name "Athens" and impressed "Rogers". 13" by 10", circa 1830.
