English Ironstone milk pitcher

English Ironstone milk pitcher with polychrome chinoiserie decoration. Marked "Opaque China" with maker's monogram. The term Opaque China was used by several early 19th century makers. A jug with an identical pattern appears in Coysh and Henrywood's "Blue and White Printed Pottery" vol. 1, color plate V with maker's mark of Lockett and Hulme. The monogram on this piece does not appear to be an L and H. I believe it is a J and G, possibly for the potters John and George Lockett 1802-1805 or another Lockett partnership. Hairline crack and small chip in rim. Another small chip in rim by handle. Otherwise good condition for its age. Circa 1810.
