Burmese soapstone buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) posture on a base, with meditative facial expression, emphasized by the half-closed eyes which look downward.

Top of the head is a stupa-shaped "flame" or called usnisa, symbol of the realization of Nirvana or indicative of supreme knowledge.

The two chief disciples of the Buddha are Moggallana and Sariputta. They are always depicted beside the Buddha. Moggallana is known for his supernatural powers. Sariputta is famous for his profound wisdom. Moggallana, sitting with both hands in adoration posture, appears on the left side of the Buddha while Sariputta, sitting with his hands placed on his legs, is on the the Lord's right side.
