The King Rama V Monument Antique Print (100 years Old, POCKET Size)

On October 23 of every years, Thailand commemorates the lifetime achievements of King Chulalongkorn, Rama V, who successfully opened Thailand's doors to Western influences and the basics of democracy. King Rama V laid the major framework for a democratic government, freed the slaves, developed lasting links with the great nation powers of the time, preserved Siam's sovereignty, and started to build a railway.

The King Rama V monument, as can be seen in the print, was being eleborately constructed in France. The cost of building the monument at that time was 200,000 baht. The money to build the King Rama V monument was given as pool of money from people living in Siam. In order to thank people who gave money, the government had given them back gold, silver, and nickle coins, and three different sizes King Rama V Monument prints. The prints were printed in France.
