Carved Animal Horn in the Form of Kuan Yin

The Goddess of Mercy, depicted as a woman with serene face, wearing a long tied robe and a chain of rosary, holding an object in her right hand, riding on Hou, a mythological animal which resembles a Buddhist lion. This manifestation symbolizes the divine supremacy of Kuan Yin over the force of nature.

Age: Chinese, Qing (Ching) Dynasty, circa 19th century.
