Late 18th Century, Shan Period, Burmese Wooden Buddha

Burmese wooden Buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) posture on lotus base, with calm expression, painted with lacquer and gilding.

Top of the head is a stupa-shaped "flame" or called usnisa, symbol of the realization of Nirvana or indicative of supreme knowledge.

Age: Burma, Shan period, circa late 18th Century
Measurement: Height 47 C.M. / Width 17 C.M. (size excluding display stand)
