Offered here is a very fine panel from a late Edo period, ca. 1820-30, KIMONO. The ground fabric is white linen and the embroidery is all silk and gold-wrapped threads. The kimono was a katabira, worn by wealthy women during the hot summer months. The panel is 13 inches in width (selvage to selvage) and 31 inches in length. The overall condition is good. Offered here is a Japanese, 19th Century (Meiji period), crepe (chirimen) silk FUKUSA. The bright red ground is decorated with a hand-drawn, resist and painted design symbolizing a wish for longevity. The piece is lined with matching red crepe silk and has a stitched, gray, double-thread frame, surrounding the scene on the front. It measures 14 X 17 1/4 inches. Offered here is a Japanese Futon Cover made of four panels of 100% cotton fabric dyed with a kasuri pattern of bonsai and checks. It was made during the mid-Meiji Period, ca. late 19th century. It measures: W: 50" L: 56". The condition is very good with only a few minor stains and a tiny hole or two.

Offered here is an early Meiji, ca. mid-19th C., Japanese Futon Cover. It is made of three panels sewn together lengthwise and measures 37 1/2" X 64". The kasuri (ikat) pattern alternates cranes and overlapping squares. This 100% cotton cover is hand spun and dyed with indigo for the colors. The condition is good. There are a few small holes repaired with patches on the verso, as well as a few small stains, but there are no major problems.

Offered here is a Japanese antique 100% cotton futon cover made by sewing four panels of fabric together lengthwise, creating a rectangle 49 3/4" X 57 1/2". The home spun, indigo dyed fabric has had a design of cranes, turtles and noshi stencil-resisted across the surface. The resist used was rice paste, not wax, and the stencils were made of persimmon-stained Japanese paper (washi). This fabric was made during the Meiji period, ca. late 19th. Offered here is a rare Japanese hanging. It was probably made during early Meiji period (ca. 1860) in the town of Sakai, near present day Osaka. Cotton futon covers, hangings and panels decorated with foreign inspired designs had became an important product of the dye shops in Sakai during the Edo period, when large numbers of fine quality pieces were made (called Sakai Sarasa).
