A good Easter Island figure of an emmaciated male of typical crouched form ,later mounted on a cylindrical base. The figure made of tolomiro wood.The eyes are inlaid with bone. A good asmat shield,early to mid 20th.c. with carved linear,abstract decoration of symmetrical form. There may have originally been a figure surmounting the shield. The original fibre attachments to the edge of the piece remain and it is in very good condition apart from minor chips around the edges. Height 52.5 ins.(133cm.)
