| An exquisite lead crystal short ale glass dating to around 1690 in immaculate condition. The round funnel bowl, wrythen gadrooned to the lower half, is set on a double knopped stem. The stem is made up of a small teared and ribbed inverted baluster knop below the bowl. The tear continues down the stem and concludes just above a basal knop. The whole glass stands on a conical folded foot. The glass measures just under 12 cm tall, the bowl measures 5.4 cm across and the foot 6.8 cm. As stated above the glass is in immaculate condition, showing all the relevant wear indicators of its age. There are three elongated air inclusions between the double gather of metal in the bowl: all perfectly normal for a glass of this construction. A similar, but less sophisticated, glass can be seen in Bickerton page 63 fig. 50. | ||
