In superb condition, the set of six elaborate plates bears the early mark of Mason's Patented Ironstone, and is decorated with an elaborate chinoiserie design of pheasants in a fantasy landscape. Colors and gilding are lavish and each plate retains a sticker indicating that it was purchased at Boston's exclusive Shreve, Crump and Lowe. English, circa 1830.

Not exactly a nature-study, unless there is a strain of maize with blue husks that I have not heard of. Nevertheless, this is charming and well-detailed six-inch delight is in excellent condition, with a gilded base. French, of the second quarter of the Nineteenth Century.

SOLD 

This baluster-form covered vase is decorated in Imari-style polychrome floral designs. The body is ribbed and the cover is topped with heraldic lion rampant. It is about 11-3/4 inches tall and 5-1/2 inches wide. The only repair has been the re-attachment of the finial, a clean break. (See image 8.)

This very fine berry dish is impressively decorated in a gilt lattice design on a brilliant, clear ground, very like the famous Sevres apple-green glaze. A delicately rendered bouquet graces the center.Measuring approximately nine inches by 9-3/4 inches, it is excellent condition, with only minimal wear on the raised portion of the inner bowl.

This elegant heart-shaped example of lustrous English soft paste bears the underglaze blue "S" (for Salopian) of Thomas Turner's Caughley Works, 1775 to 1790. In excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and just normal wear to the gilding, it measures eight inches by 10-7/8 by 1-3/8 inches deep.

This little beer-lover is amazingly lifelike, with his beaming, pudgy face and stein held to his heart. There is an almost Roman portraiture quality to the bust, which lifts of to reveal a mustard pot. The two little barrels are for salt and pepper and the original mustard spoon is intact. Bright, practical and naive, this little gem is painted with motifs that suggest the intended contents and, should there be any doubt, the French word for tobacco is boldly emblazoned across the face. Beautiful, unbroken condition, with only some slight abrasion to the high points of the over-glaze. On the inside of the lid is an impressed hallmark: L & M, 65. French or German, circa 1870. Approximately 6-1/2 inches tall and 4-1/3 inches in diameter.
