In the form cinquefoil rosettes, these highly-detailed and finely-detailed tiebacks are prime examples of English stamped-brass work. Approximately 3-1/2 inches in diameter, the rosettes are backed in iron and have iron shafts that are about 3-1/2 inches in length to the tops of their original hand-formed mounting screws. Fine condition and excellent patina. England, circa 1825.

Here is a rare find: a pair of Seventeenth Century candlesticks in lustrous bell metal the color of rose gold. Engraved with designs of stylized flowers and festoons, they are about six inches tall and 4-1/2 inches in diameter. Both sticks have been pierced (not by me!) for electrical wiring.

In remarkably perfect condition, this charming faux-bambou brass chamber stick, or "go-to-bed," still has its original shade, finely engraved with fleurs-de-lys. It measures approximately six inches tall and is French, circa 1830.

Wonderfully sturdy but with a delicate air is this lovely chamberstick, French. mid-Eighteenth Century. The base and candle cup are almost identical to Figure C on page 205 of THE BRASS BOOK by Peter, Nancy and Herbert Schiffer (1978, Schiffer Publishing Ltd.), but the shell-decorated handle is pierced and counterbalanced with a finger hold underneath. Excellent condition, approximately 7-1/2 inches long by 3-1/4 inches wide and 1-3/4 inches high.

An exceptionally fine piece of Dutch East Indian metalwork is this large, handsomely shaped and engraved punch bowl made for the European market. The outer surfaces have a fine, polished golden color, while the interior and bottom have the patina of old bronze. Over much of the outside are designs of trails of foliage, diaper patterns and stylized leaves on a punched ground.
