In Leona Davis Boylan's landmark "Spanish Colonial Silver" (Museum of New Mexico Press,1974), there is illustrated a similar silver water pot. This rare example is uncovered and measures approximately 3-3/4 inches (9-1/2 cm) high and seven inches (18 cm)in diameter at the handles, with a weight of 271 grams. Here is an excellent example of an Eighteenth Century drinking cup fashioned of mine-grade silver from Bolivia’s rich mines. The paneled hexagonal base is topped by floral garlands banded top and bottom with chained and pearled rims. The ogee handle sports a central pineapple with zoomorphic finials of dogs or llamas.
