This fine pair of Eighteenth Century vases is thickly glazed in rich cobalt blue on the outside, and with turquoise glazing on the interiors of the tops and on the bottoms. Probably intended for joss-sticks at an altar, each vase has a cylindrical central interior with reticulated sides lending a graceful octagonal baluster form to the vases. Relief molding of stylized mountains and cloud-bands encircle the body and the reticulated cartouches and top edges are highlighted in gilt.

Made for export around 1870, this 11-piece dressing set, in its original lacquer fitted case, is of extraordinary purity (approximately 950/1000) and weight, the powder box alone weighing in at about 11 ounces. Featuring finely martèle surfaces within plain borders, the decoration is elegantly reserved. Each of the brushes – two hair brushes, a clothes brush and a hat brush – retains its original silk-brocade cartonnage bandeau, and packing papers bear the advertising of the maker, Hung Chong ...click for details

Dating from around 1875, this fine porcelain brush vase retains its Communist Government release wax seal on the bottom. Gold-highlighted enamels depict a young lover scaling a wall and pushing away willow branches to interrupt two ladies playing checkers in a garden, probably a scene from a popular play. The piece is approximately 4-3/4 inches tall and three inches in diameter, and is in lovely condition, with only normal wear to the gilding.

Carved in precious jade to imitate an almost-unattainable early Chinese bronze ho (covered tripod pot), this fine detailed piece is supported on three elephant-head legs. The grayish green of the jade suggests the color of ancient bronze, with the dark-ivory striations giving the effect of natural burial incrustation. An important ornament for a scholar’s desk, this Eighteenth Century Chinese jade stands approximately 5-1/2 inches high, exclusive of the one-inch high,wire-inlaid rosewood stand ...click for details
