This is an old Bidang hand woven by Iban Lady from Borneo Sarawak, East Malaysia in 1920s and can be earlier. The complex design is very intricate and beautiful for framing purpose. This is a Republic Era stye vase with calligraphy, the chinese date on it indicates as written 1920 date and can't interprete the poem, artisan name is Li Wen Tai, with some wear on the foot, overall condition is good with no crack or repair. Thank you for looking!!! Height approximately 23cm

This is an Iban Sungkit made of cotton (Bidang) from the Lubok Antu Area's Longhouse in Sarawak, East Malaysia/Borneo Island. Hand woven in circa 1960s by Iban Lady Artisan. Textile weaving art is like the women warpath in Iban society synonimous with the Iban men's headhunting ritual in olden times. This piece is in a well kept condition in the Iban longhouse(Almost excellent except a small portion of the edge cloth towards the end area was joined when it was made, not repaired/broken) ...click for details
