Satsuma charger by Sozan
This is one of the nicest examples of post-war Satsuma we have seen. We believe it to be late Showa period, however, Sotheby's sold it as Meiji Period in their London sale of November 10, 2005 (sale #LO 5216 Chinese and Japanese Works of Art- part 2.) It was lot number 1156 from that sale. The title cartouche reads, "Shinsen Edo Meisho". The subtitle reads, "Yukibare no zu" (clear weather after the snow) and it is signed Sozan on the reverse side. It measures 12 1/8" in diameter and is in fine condition.
