Roman Empire, 3th-4th century B.C. Important hollow cast bronze head of a old man, with beard and moustache. The style is provincial and late roman, but still with strong roman character. Is some minor restorations at neck area, otherwise good condition. The piece is large lifesize, 33 centimeters of height and 26 between the ears. Jaina Island, Yucatan, Mexico. Ca. 500-800 A.D. A fine, hollow molded pottery, standing figure having a animal-headed baby, and ceremonial facial scarification around her mouth and chin. Wearing small eardiscs and necklace. Whistle incorporated into the rear base. Some minor repairs, otherwise intact. An elegant example. 22,8 x 11 cm. Provenance: Private Barcelona collection, bought in the 1970's from Primitive Art Gallery, S.A. published in the gallery catalog.
