Chavin Bottle, Ca. 1000-400 B.C. Small, redware terracotta bottle having a rounded body with tall, slender neck of slightly corseted form. Possibly representing an anthropomorphized rodent or guinea pig with relief facial detail on the body consisting of lightly recessed eyes and mouth, relief nose and “c” shaped ears flanking. Intact, save for a tiny probe hole on reverse. Provenance: Ex. Jean-Eugene Lions collection, Geneva, Switzerland.
