This very well carved ivory statue of a scholar is a late 19th century product. It is 11" high (with hardwood carved base, it is 13" high), 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" thick. The image is the well-known Song Dynasty (960AD~1270AD) hermit scholar Lin Pu (林 逋). Li Pu (967AD~1028AD) was born in Hang Zhou City, Zhe Jiang. When he was young he traveled a lot. This is an 18th or 19th century Chinese brown glazed and carved porcelain brush holder (Bitong) signed by “Wang Bing Rong” who is considered one of the best porcelain carvers of that period. His dates are somewhat confusing. Some records say he was born in 1736 and died in 1795. Other records have him living from 1862 to 1908. This early 20th century Famille Rose snuff bottle features hand painted chrysanthemum, cherry, rose, peony and other unknown blossoms on a white background. It is 2 3/8” high, 2 1/8” wide and 1 1/8” thick. The cap and spoon are replacements. It is in very good condition.

This unusual large blue and white incense pot is a Kang Xi period (1662~1722) product. It is 5 1/2" high and 9 3/8" in diameter. On the exterior, there are six sitting Buddhist monks who have achieved enlightenment. Their worthy position is indicated by the halos around their heads. They are surrounded by a swirl cloud pattern. Also, there are clouds around the neck of the pot. This is a set of twelve late Qing Dynasty Famille Rose Mille Fleurs (thousand flowers) plates. Each plate is 1” high and 7 1/2” in diameter. A large pink peony appears in the center of each plate; chrysanthemum, lily, hibiscus, iris and several unknown flowers fill the tops of the plates. There are Guang Xu (1875~1908) marks and three separate floral (peony) designs on the back. The workmanship is elegant. The gold edging on the rims has slightly rubbed off. These late 19th century Chinese Famille Verte ceramic bowls are 1 7/8” high and 5” in diameter. There are two green dragons chasing flame surrounded red globes on the outside the bowls. Inside the bowls, there is one globe with flames. There is an orange peach and lucky bat mark on the bottom of each bowl. Aside from some small hair line cracks due to their age and three tiny chips on one bowl due to the firing, they are in very good condition.
