This is a fine Chinese style black sake cup with a fine silky black surface. Kako (b. 1965) came from a family of commercial potters from Kyoto, but decided at an early age to become an art potter. He is highly thought of by several Japanese ceramic magazines and has won the grand prize at the prestigious Tea Forms Exhibition in Japan. It comes with a signed box. It is 2 high and 3 in diameter. It is in excellent condition.

Makoto is the son of the late Rokuro, who was considered one of the finest makers of Bizen sake vessels in his day. This fine low guinomi (sake cup) was made by Taki. Taki (b. 1965) is the son of the famous Nakazato Takashi who developed the Nanban style of Karatsu ware. Taki is also the grandson of LNT (Living National Treasure) Nakazato Tarouemon XII. Members of his family have been potters for 400 years. It comes with a signed box. It is 1 3/8 high and 3 in diameter. It is in excellent condition.
