This finely fired tokkuri (sake bottle) was made by Isezaki Koichiro, son of the current Living National Treasure for Bizen wares, Isezaki Jun. Koichiro is a popular and very talented younger potter who has taken influences from his father, Jeff Shapiro, and Kakurezaki Ryuichi and made them his own with very strong and creative results. This fine tall sake vessel (could be used as a small vase) with geometric decoration was made by noted porcelain artist Yoshikawa Masamichi. Yoshikawa has won numerous awards and his works are held in many collections worldwide. He is also noted for his installations in public places in Japan. It is 7 5/8” high and 2 ¾” from the widest part. The artist’s signature is inside of the original wood box and on the bottom of the vessel. It is in excellent condition.

Tsukigata originated the name Oni Shino for the dark, powerful style of firing of this fine sake bottle. He studied with Arakawa Toyozo, one of the all time greats of 20th century Japanese ceramics. He was widely published and exhibited during his lifetime. His works are quite rarely seen outside of Japan. It is 5 ½” high and 4” from the widest part. This nice gourd shape Hakuyu (white) glazed tokkuri (sake bottle) was made by the extremely popular young Japanese potter Ishii Takahiro. Ishii (b. 1977) was apprenticed under the well known Bizen potter, Kakurezaki Ryuichi. He fires in many styles and is constantly expanding his repertoire. His gallery shows are often sellouts. The sake bottle is 5” high and 3 ¾” on the widest part. It comes with a signed box and it is in excellent condition.

This nice shorter Matsu-Yuki tokkuri was made by noted contemporary potter Kako Katsumi. Kako (b. 1965) came from a family of commercial potters from Kyoto, but decided at an early age to become an art potter. He is highly thought of by several Japanese ceramic magazines and has won the grand prize at the prestigious Tea Forms Exhibition in Japan. The sake bottle is 5” high and 3 1/2” wide. It comes with a signed box and it is in excellent condition.

This very well made Shizuno-yu tokkuri (sake flask) was made by Kako Katsumi.
