Japanese print by Kawase Hasui ( 1883-1957 ) CLEARING AFTER SNOWFALL AT THE ASAKUSA KANNON TEMPLE
This print was issued in 1926 by Watanabe and carries the series seal and the Watanabe A date seal used from 1924-1930. Thus, it would be considered a 1st edition print by some. Excellent impression, color and condition. Purchased by the original owner at the Toledo Museum print shows in the 1930's. Never mounted.
Japanese print by Kasamatsu Shiro( 1898-? ) EVENING SKY AT SUWA SHRINE, NIPPORI, 1932
The print is from 1932. Shiro worked for the publisher Watanabe starting in 1919 and was popular with western buyers. Later in the 1950's, he became interested in the Sosaku Hanga movement.
This is an original print; some would call it a first edition as it carries the Watanabe C seal used from 1932 to WWII. It was originally purchased at the Toledo Museum print shows during the 1930's . Excellen ...click for details
