This Chinese well-carved lapis deity is 6 inches tall (with base, it is 7 ½ inches tall), 6 ½ inches wide and 3 ½ inches thick. It depicts the Shou Xing, the Chinese deity for longevity. The deity is holding a staff on his shoulder, a RuYi (scepter) is in his other hand. A boy and girl holding a giant peach with both hands are standing in front of him. A crane which has a small bat in its beak is at his side. The peach, Ruyi, crane and bat all mean good luck. The artist arranged these symbo ...click for details

This carved reticulate nephrite is 6 ½ inches long, 2 ½ inches wide and a quarter of an inch thick. It has a traditional Chinese motif which includes a dragon, flowers, a vine and characters. The meaning of these four characters is ¡°celebrating happy events and long life¡±. The workmanship is just wonderful. It was carved in two layers which makes it even more interesting. There are a few small chips on the sides. It is in good condition.

These well-carved hardwood Luo Han statues are about 8 1/4 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 4 inches in depth. They were carved around 1950. One is holding a 7 storied pagoda; the other is holding a four sided vase. Both have inlayed eyes, but the latter is missing his right eye. They are in good condition.

This Chinese Tong Zhi period (1862~1874) small porcelain bowl is 2 inches tall and 3 ½ inches in diameter. It depicts colorful flowers, such as roses, plum blossoms, chrysanthemum and insects, such as a grasshopper and cricket over a white background. Some of the gold rim has worn off because of its age. It is in great condition.

The Koto is a string instrument that originated in China and came to Japan in the 7th ¨C 8th century. The Japanese Koto is a large instrument, about six feet long. This rare smaller version of Koto from Meiji Period (1868~1911) is 21 inches long, 4 inches wide and 2 ½ inches tall. This 18th or 19th century green glazed and carved porcelain brush holder signed by ¡°Wang Bing Rong¡± is 5 inches tall and 3 ¼ inches in diameter. It depicts a plum tree in full bloom. This is a good sample of using the natural color of agate to create an interesting snuff bottle. It is 3 inches tall, 1 1/8 inches wide and 1 inch thick. The artist used the orange of the agate to create a large squash and small squash hanging on its side. The black section of the stone color was used to create a lucky bat; the lighter color of the stone served to create a monkey grabbing the smaller squash. This unusual hand carved multi-colored agate snuff bottle is 2 5/8 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 3 quarters of an inch thick. The artist, Chen Ke, used the natural color of the agate to create two gourds leaning against each other, and uses the darker color to carve three smaller gourds, some leaves and two moths. The two caps were carved from green moss agate which are like the stems of the gourds. The workmanship is great. It is well hollowed and polished.

This handsome hand carved multi-colored agate snuff bottle is 3 1/8 inches tall, 1 ¼ inches wide and 1 inch thick. The snuff bottle was carved as an ear of corn. The artist, Chen Ke, used the natural color of the agate to create a red squirrel and grapes on the beige corn. The subject is unique and the workmanship is superb. It is well hollowed and polished.
