This Qing Dynasty Kang Xi Period (1662~1735) blue and white plate is 10” in diameter and 2” high. The interior of this plate depicts a living room scene; a couple are sitting on chairs chatting and a young maid is standing near by. This very well carved white jade (nephrite) Lohan (Arhat) is an early 20th century product. It depicts a Lohan sitting on a rock, his left hand holds a wood stick he is using to clean his ear; his right arm is resting on the rock. The impression on his face is just interesting and realistic. It is 6 ¼” high, 5 ¾” wide and 3 ½” thick. Aside from natural blemishes, it is in great condition.

This very well carved lapis lazuli water bowl is 2 ¾” high, 6” long and 3 ½” wide. It depicts a young boy and a small dragon tortoise riding on the back of a large dragon tortoise. A tiny tortoise sits inside the water bowl which is formed from the back of the large dragon tortoise. The piece is accompanied by a black silk brocade box. This set of four Guang Xu Period (1875~1908) Mille Fleurs (thousand flowers) dishes are ¾ inch tall and 6 ½ inches in diameter. Hundreds of different kinds of flowers cover them all. The workmanship is superb and precise. The gold trim on the rims has slightly rubbed off. They are in great condition.

This well carved stone laughing Buddha is 3 ¼” high (with wood base is 5” high), 4 ¾” wide and 2” in depth. It depicts a laughing Buddha (Budai in Chinese; Hotei in Japanese) comfortably leaning on his ever present cloth sack. His left hand holds a ruyi scepter; his right hand holds a gold nugget. A young boy is resting on the Buddha’s right knee. Aside from natural blemishes on the back of the statue and two crack lines in the wood base, it is in great condition.

This very well carved ivory glove stretcher is a mid 19th century product. There are garden scenes carved on both sides. It is 10 ¾” long. It has beautiful patina. Aside from a few crack lines due to its age, it is in excellent condition.

This is a very nicely fired large sake bottle by Morimoto Yoshinobu. The bottle is fired in the style of Abe Anjin, one of the greats of contemporary Bizen style pottery. Morimoto studied with Abe Anjin before setting up his own studio. It is 6” high and 4” from the widest part. The artist’s signature is on the top of the original wood box. It is in excellent condition.

This fine tall sake vessel (could be used as a small vase) with geometric decoration was made by noted porcelain artist Yoshikawa Masamichi. Yoshikawa has won numerous awards and his works are held in many collections worldwide. He is also noted for his installations in public places in Japan. It is 7 5/8” high and 2 ¾” from the widest part. The artist’s signature is inside of the original wood box and on the bottom of the vessel. It is in excellent condition.

The fine white ash glazed tea caddy with cast bronze lid was made by the very popular Japanese potter Ishii Takahiro. He apprenticed with Kakurzaki Ryuichi, one of the most sought after contemporary Bizen artist-potters. Ishii's exhibitions are quite often sellouts due to the quality of his work. It is 4 3/8” high and 3” in diameter. The artist’s signature is on the top of the original wood box. It is in excellent condition.
