EARLY 20TH C. CHINESE IVORY CARVING OF A ROYAL COUPLE
These very well carved and designed ivory statues are an early 20th century product. The emperor wears a court necklace and dragon robe. He holds a Ru Yi sector in his right hand and sits on a tall back chair carved with dragon and cloud patterns. The empress wears a court necklace and lucky cloud robe. She sits on a tall back chair carved with phoenix and cloud patterns. She has a royal seal in her left hand. They are 6 ½” high (with carved hard wood base, they are 8” high), 2 ¾” wide and 2 3/8” thick. There are two honorable seals “Qian Long period” carved on the bottom of both statues. They are in excellent condition.
