Contemporary guinomi (sake cup) by Ikai Yuichi
This light colored celadon guinomi (sake cup) was made by Kyoto artist Ikai Yuichi. He was born to a family of pottery merchants. He studied with the living national treasure Shimizu Uichi before setting up his own studio. He is a master of many styles and exhibits his work in many of the finest Japanese galleries. He has been honored at the Japan Traditional Arts and Crafts Exhibition. It is 2 ¼” high and 2 ¾” in diameter. The artist’s signature is on the top of the original wood box. It is in excellent condition.
