Contemporary large Bizen guinomi by Isezaki Mitsuru

This nice, finely fired large guinomi (sake cup) was made by the late Isezaki Mitsuru (1934~2012), brother of the current Living National Treasure for Bizen ware and Okayama Prefectural Treasure, Isezaki Jun. The sake cup is 2 5/8 high and 2 from the widest part. He was well exhibited in Japan and was a recipient of the coveted Kaneshige Toyo Prize. The artist name and seal are on the side of the original wood box; his mark is on the bottom of the cup. It is in excellent condition.
