| Rather than a photograph onto paper, this is an original photograph onto milk glass, which has been hand-colored, and spot painted with oils, by the gifted photographer, C. Bennette Moore (1879-1939). Moore kept a studio in New Orleans, and became famous for portraiture throughout Louisiana, as well as for his genre photographs of New Orleans. It measures about 3.25" x 4.25" (8.25 x 10.79 cm), and is in its original brass frame with velvet backing. Frame is a little oxidized; there is a chip, lower right corner, and a flake, upper right corner in the glass plate, minor scratches. Original signature, lower right, the copyright symbol and "C. Bennette Moore, New Orleans." c. 1904-1920. | |||||||||
