Bohemian Engraved Ewer with Gilding 19th Century
Wonderful 19th Century blown glass ewer with applied, solidly gilded handle. Antike vergoldete böhmisches kunstglas Ewer. Front is beautifully engraved with an elaborately decorated cartouche containing two smaller cartouches. It is possible this was a privately commissioned piece, as the design within the cartouche appears to be a castle alongside what may be a burial vault, with a front view of the "vault" in the lower small cartouche, and an unknown design in the small inner cartouche at the top of the design. We suggest this may have been from the Moser factory, although the scene could indicate another European country. The foot is thick and solid, and the pontil has been ground smooth. 10.75" (27.30 cm) tall, 3.25" (8.25 cm) foot diameter. Excellent condition with some loss of gilding. c. 1890s. $16 US Shipping.
