Fine portrait of a Cardinal in full vestments indicating his rank just below the Pope of Rome, by well-known, listed portrait artist, Caspar Mine (1905 -). Feines Portrait eines Kardinals durch Caspar Mine. Born in France, studied and worked in Vienna (see biography below). This 9" x 12" (22.86 x 30.48 cm) oil portrait on masonite is in excellent condition, as is the 14" x 17" x 2" (35.56 x 43.18 x 5.08 cm) wood, gesso, and gilded frame. $35 US Shipping. ABOUT THE ARTIST: A note on verso states: "Born in Montpellier, France in 1905. He soon moved to Vienna together with his parents where he attended the Kunstgewerbeschule. Afterwards he studied under Prof. Hoffmann. He is mostly interested in the Rococo century. Out of that time he takes the rich variety of his figure-paintings. Often he spends some hours in the staterooms of the castle Schonbrunn where he is inspired to new subjects and motivies. He also likes to express his great talent for figure-painting in fine charakter-studies. He was very successsful at exhibitions in the Sezession, Burggarten, and Glaspalast in Vienna." |
