Book Ends of Antique Leather bound Books French Paris

Handsome Bookends, made from real antique leather books, gilded spines, papers are gilded on top edges, ribbon markers, both books can still be read, if desired. Both books are written in the French language, the left one titled “La Debauche,” by Andre Birabeau, and edited by Ernest Flammarion. Both books were printed in Paris, in 1924. The right book end, is titled, “Kyra Kyralina,” by Panait Istrati (1884-1935), written in 1923, and was the first major piece of his lyrical series centered around the character, “Adriene Zograffi,” very popular at the time. For more, interesting reading on this author, we suggest Wikipedia.com.

Both books have considerable wear, and the pages are brittle. Keep in mind that these are now bookends, and the wear adds much to their charm. 7.5" (19.05 cm) tall, 5" (12.70 cm) wide, .75" (1.90 cm) thick. In attractively worn condition. c. 1924. $15 US Shipping. [see our item 1723 for a 2nd pair, pictured here as photo 6]
