Three vintage Russian Lacquered Boxes, handpainted with beautiful little miniatures. All are signed, and all are in excellent condition, with only one having a small abrasion, pictured. See description for each, below: Item No. 3658: Uncertain of the village in Russia where this was painted, but it does have the original, small Certificate of Authenticity, which is sure to list the village name. The scene, of course, is that of The Grand Kremlin Palace, and the Kremlin, on the right, with the colorful domes. The structure is indeed fortified, just as shown in the painting; and is located in the heart of Moscow, where the Russian President resides. This piece is signed on the right by the artist, and dated on the left -- we believe "1974." We could not capture the very light writing in photos. 6" x 4.75" x 1.75" (15.24 x 12.06 x 4.44 cm), hinged box, excellent condition. Item No. 3659: Uncertain of village of origin, but again, it does contain a small Certificate of Authenticity which, if you read the language, surely states the village name. This is a beautiful Russian countryside scene, and is a fine impressionist style painting in miniature! Tall trees, grasses waving in the foreground, a country road, birds flying overhead. Lovely. The box is signed and dated by the artist, but we were unable to capture it in the photos as it is well camouflaged as part of the painting. 5.25" x 3.50" x 1.75" (13.33 x 8.89 x 4.44 cm), hinged box. One tiny abrasion, photographed. Item No. 3605: An exquisite treasure is likely from the village of Palekh in Russia, one of four villages where the ancient fairytales are painted onto boxes. The miniature painting is well known, as a "troika," a three-horse drawn sleigh or carriage. It is of three very fanciful horses, a driver cracking the whip, in long coat with huge fur collar, and two sleigh passengers tightly bundled in fur. The signatures are shown in our photos. A gilded border surrounds the painting, the lid, and the lower portion of the box. Oval, 4.75" x 3.25" x 1.625" (12.06 x 8.25 x 4.12 cm). Excellent condition. |
