Handpainted stoneware-pottery supper set by Guillot of France, each piece hand-signed on reverse; 12 pieces, total. There is every indication that this set is the work of Alvaro Guillot, deceased, noted 20th Century surrealist French painter, who was known to have worked for a time in ceramics. Guillot was also, at one time, mid-century, active in Florida and California art circles, and is well represented, today, in fine galleries. Plates 10.25" (26.03 cm) diameter, mugs 3.125" (7.93 cm) diameter, 3.50" (8.89 cm) tall. Each of the 12 pieces depicts a different owl; each mug has a tree on the back side; all original and hand-painted. What a great set to use before or after-the-theatre, or to give as a gift.
