| Small, Louis XVI style Wooden Frame, with two rows of decorative gold metal beading, and ormolu top decoration. Opening approximately 4" x 6" (10.16 x 15.24 cm), outside at 5" x 7" (12.70 x 17.78 cm), plus top ornament. Open lower end on verso to accommodate sliding in an easel back-stand. Note superior construction, especially the joining of the corners; the frame was then shaped with an elegant "beveled" edge on the verso, and front grooves were created to accommodate the beading. Wood is a fine variety in an attractive shade of medium brown with a slight greenish cast. Probably made in France. Condition is excellent with only some scratches, slight discoloring near the verso base, although minimal wear considering age. c. 1880-1900. $12 US Shipping. | ||||||||||
