The Avenue Middelharnis Holland After Hobbema; oil on canvas painting of "The Avenue, Middelharnis, Holland," after Hobbema (1638-1709 Amsterdam). Our painting was likely completed in the 1920s, is unsigned, with graphite writing on the stretcher, "Telma Smith."
It appears that a large object may have been dropped on the painting causing some damage, although the painting still presents quite well as is until the buyer is able to have repairs made. The damage includes two small minor abrasions of pigment loss (center top and lower left), and one major pigment loss near the top of the foremost tree on the left; there is also a 3-corner tear within that 1.50" x .75" pigment loss. There is scattered craquelure.
Canvas measures 24" x 30". Framed to 28.50" x 33.50", the frame is in very good condition with only a few insignificant areas of finish loss, and damage to one corner of the verso stretcher. $36 US Shipping.
