| Hobart Reimann (1897-1986) was, first, a Professor of Medicine, and secondly, a painter. This painting in pastels is signed lower right, "Caravanserai Kabul, 1920, H. Reimann." The doctor traveled extensively, teaching and lecturing in several countries; his skill as an artist was recognized by his peers when one of his paintings appeared on the cover of the important and prestigeous Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), in 1972.* We also know that he exhibited in Philadelphia, and at the Butler Museum of Art in Ohio. Hobart was the father of the world renowned sculptor and artist, William Reimann of Minnesota, as well as grandfather to Katya Reimann, artist and author. A superbly executed, and rarely available piece, measuring 28" x 22" (71.12 x 55.88 cm), in a contemporary frame to 34" x 28" x 2.5" (86.36 x 71.12 x 6.35 cm).
