Miniature European Wiesbaden Villa Painting Dated 1939
Miniature gouache Painting is signed and dated, lower left, as well as beneath the image on the right; "1/8/39," probably in the European manner, meaning August 1, 1939. A charming European Villa, in "Wiesbaden on the Rhine," (Germany), fronted by large planters full of vivid flowers, measuring apx. 5" x 5" (12.70 x 12.70 cm), on paper, framed in wood to 12" x 12" (30.48 x 30.48 cm). "Gateway to the Rheingau," Wiesbaden is known as the "City of Villas," many built by Russian aristocrats who fled the Revolution. We have not yet determined the name of this Villa, although it may be "Wallendorf." The artist is perhaps, "L. Plimon." Excellent condition. c. 1939. $18 US Shipping.

In German: Ursprünglicher Gouache-Anstrich, Wiesbaden auf dem Rhein.
