Donald Deskey Amodec American Art Deco Server Chest
American Art Deco server/chest. Circa 1935. Mahogany and brass. Donald Deskey design for his own company, American Modern Decoration. Amodec metal tag. Two drawers with center pulls on tall tapered legs. Very good original condition. Minor surface scratches. Measures 34"w x 18"d x 34"h.

Donald Deskey (American, 1894-1989), architect and artist, is best known for his Art Deco interior designs for Radio City Music Hall in the late twenties. Deskey was influenced by European Art Deco, but was also responsive to the changing needs and tastes of modern America. His aerodynamic furniture designs with curved corners and simple motifs helped define a new uniquely American style, Streamlined Modern.
