Fine example of a Chinese second half 19th c. Military rank badge, 6th rank Panther, Tight couched gold thread, seed coral beads are woven on as the sun insignia and this piece is framed. It is in very good condition. Measures 11".
Stunning and immaculate condition roundel from a ladies robe, unused and never applied. From a collection that has been remarkably well preserved. Measures 13" in diameter. Lined with pale blue patterned silk, also in excellent condition. Lovely floral, narcissus, Buddhas hand citron and butterfly motifs.
Unused set of Three roundels with unusual and intriguing subject matter including a man with darker skin who appears to be a warrior monk conversing with a scholar, two opera actors, and two ladies confabulating on each of the three roundels respectively. Outstanding unused like new condition from an estate where these were remarkably well preserved, the set dating from the late Qing dysnasty.
Summer Chaofu skirt fabric featuring brick counted stitch on gauze and couched gold thread has been made into a panel. Some of the mortar in the trim of the panel has deteriorated, leaving the trim in "as found" condition. The original art on the skirt and the colors are in very good condition. This textile is fragile, however.
Nice dark blue satin winter robe with bright and crisp butterflies in bold primary colors dancing on the design. In as-found condition due to wear around the collar area and staining and stiffening due to water damage on the red sleeve bands. Otherwise very good condition to main body of this fine robe with lovely chased silver vermeil gold bead buttons.
