This is a very charming contemporary Japanese porcelain plate, made as a decorative item for display. It was made in one of the Kutani kilns, as indicated by the inscription on the box (read below). It has a matt brown glaze on the top surface, with nine white circles--eight smaller circles around one larger circle in the middle. This is a poster from the exhibition "Bernard Leech: The 100th Birthday Anniversary Exhibition", held in 1987 at the Nihon Mingeikan (Japan Folk Crafts Museum) in Osaka.
